Specializing in landscapes, animal and still life studies as well as portraits on commissions, she has strong preferences for oils, watercolors, pastels and silk painting. Maré is one of the few remaining artists that portrays the original Bo-Kaap and District Six - a unique depiction of colour and medium.

Maré has established three art schools:

Eastern Cape (1986 – 1996) and moving to the Western Cape,in Melkbosstrand (1998 -2017 ) and from

2017 also in Durbanville.

She is well known for her unselfish efforts and contribution in assisting developing artists in establishing themselves.
